In addition to writing, Julia loves spending time with family, playing cozy games, and listening to indie rock. She's been battling chronic Lyme disease since childhood and considers her illness a crucial part of her identity.

To combat the devastating effects of overpopulation, every citizen has a playing card tattooed onto their wrists. Once a year during The Pick, cards are drawn from a deck, and individuals with the corresponding tattoos are killed by an elite group of soldiers known as Chasers. When Eddie is put on the country’s annual hit list, her best friend’s brother—a newbie Chaser named Ren—is assigned to kill her.
