Emmanuel Loomis
2024 Editorial Intern
Growing up on Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and Margaret Peterson Haddix’s The Missing series, then later deep-diving into Ernest Cline and Andy Weir, Emmanuel Loomis has always had interest in YA, sci-fi, and writing his own content at the best of his voice. Emmanuel has been published for a few of his short stories in both CSU San Marcos’s 318 Journal and Chico’s own graduate-ran journal The Manzanita. He also spent time proofreading and making suggestions for Julia Rosemary Turk’s Cut Deck, a riveting work in Lost Island’s very own library. Much more so than being an author, editor, or reader, Emmanuel’s number-one hobby is making someone smile, and maybe even laugh if he’s had enough coffee that day.

From Emmanuel
“Becoming an intern at Lost Island Press was a great choice for me in beginning my formation of career experience. I got to spend time reviewing and editing an entire novel, front to back, and learned how to do various other publishing practices. I feel like my experience with Lost Island was an opportunity I wouldn’t have wanted to miss. I 100% recommend connecting about an internship if you’re ready to have a valuable, beneficial, and productive time.”
